Former President Bill Clinton spoke about Walmart’s environmental efforts as a guest on The Daily Show last night. The mention came during the President’s description of the guests who will be joining him this Sunday in the opening session of the Clinton Global Initiative. Walmart President and CEO Mike Duke will be one of them.
The President spoke about Walmart’s packaging and renewable energy efforts, including our company’s recent ranking as the No. 1 solar company in the U.S. We are truly honored to be mentioned. You can watch the clip here.

America has been taken over by a mob mentality. Everybody hates WalMart because everybody else does. But the facts dispute this unfounded bias. WalMart has developed a strategy to deliver almost all types merchandise conveniently and fairly priced. They did not become as big as they are by not delivering those two things consistently. At the end of the day, even their detractors shop there.
I like Walmart, good prices, quality merchandise and local assability.
I can only hope that Walmart is doing all this for more reasons than publicity. With your buying power, you could singlehandedly change the world. It’s a big responsibility.
I like target better for most things but Wallmart is closer to my house and they carry fishing tackle. You can never have too much fishing tackle.
But do these sustainability standards apply to the overseas factories where much of Wal-Mart’s goods are produced? Are foreign manufacturers held to U.S. standards? If not, we are just transferring the environmental damage to other countries. The world is a small place and pollution is a global problem. Thanks.
i love shopping at walmart. Everything one need is available at a reasonable price and customer’s service is very very good.
We LOVE you Walmart!!!
