In an opinion piece commentary in yesterday’s Wall Street Journal, First Lady Michelle Obama – who advocates healthy living through her Let’s Move! campaign — lauded Walmart’s efforts to promote healthier food. This includes cutting the costs of the fruits and vegetables we sell, reducing sugar in our products, and implementing a “Great For You” product labeling program to make it easier to spot healthy food items in our stores.
These efforts are helping where it matters most – in the lives of our children. As Mrs. Obama explains, several states are reporting noticeable declines in childhood obesity. Though we still have a long way to go in solving the problem, Walmart will continue to find innovative ways to encourage families to eat healthier.
