Top fall sustainability tips from Walmart Facebook fans

Walmart’s Facebook fans know what it means to be green and act on it too. We asked our fans to share their tips for saving energy and being green this fall. Of the hundreds of fantastic tips we received, we’ve featured some of our favorites here.
- Unplug electronic items when not in use, such as the coffee maker. – Angela W.
- Use lined drapes in windows to keep the warm air in during the winter and out in the summer. – Tammy L.
- Correctly insulate your home to save money on heating and cooling bills. –Becky S.
- Switch to flannel sheets and pillow cases and use heavier blankets on beds during cold weather to minimize the need to use the heater. –Essie M. and Nina S.
- Set the T.V. timer to turn off at a certain hour if you go to sleep with it on. –Billie W.
- Change all your light bulbs to energy efficient. –Randy L.
- Use motion sensors on lights like those for the porch and garage that automatically turn off after a preset time to reduce energy use. –Karen P.
- Try making your own household products, such as window cleaner, laundry soap and fabric softener. It’s great for the environment and can save you hundreds of dollars a year. –Heather K.
