Celebrate Earth Month with The Green Room

Earth Month, Walmart

This month is Earth Month, a celebration of the environment and sustainability that culminates with Earth Day on April 22. It’s a great time to focus on the importance of sustainability and how we can make it part of our daily lives. And since that’s also the goal of The Green Room, we wanted to give a sneak preview of how Walmart is celebrating Earth Month. Here are a few of the activities we have planned:

  • On Monday, April 15 at 10 a.m. CST, we’ll hold our bi-annual Global Sustainability Milestone Meeting, where Walmart executives will share the latest on our global sustainability accomplishments. We’ll post more details in advance of the meeting, including information about the webcast that you can access from The Green Room, but for now you can mark the date in your planner.
  • Then, on Monday, April 22, we’ll publish the Walmart 2013 Global Responsibility Report online. It provides in-depth details on our progress to date against our aspirational goals, as well as the performance indicators in all aspects of corporate social responsibility. This year’s report will also include an overview of key efforts in several of our major international regions.
  • As part of Earth Month, Walmart leaders are taking the sustainability message on the road and participating in a few speaking events at conferences throughout April.
    • Andrea Thomas, senior vice president of sustainability, will speak at the Bloomberg New Energy Summit in New York City, on April 23.
    • Roz Brewer, president and CEO of Sam’s Club, will take the stage at Fortune Brainstorm Green on Monday, April 29 for a one-on-one discussion with Fortune’s Geoff Colvin.

We want to make sure you’re part of the Earth Month celebration, too, so we’ll continue to spark the conversation online with daily blog posts, weekly #WinItWednesday contests on Twitter, tips, and even a Pinterest contest later this month.

Stay tuned for the latest updates here, on @WalmartGreen, WalmartGreen on Pinterest, and on our Facebook page.
