Got your gardening tips for spring? Followers on Twitter share their ideas.

Gardening tips, Walmart

In our first #WinItWednesday contest of Earth Month, Twitter followers with green thumbs shared their ideas for keeping the garden green, gorgeous and free of pests. With special guest Project 7 joining us to judge entries and offer additional prizes, the theme naturally turned to gardening and the great outdoors. So, what were the top three tips from our readers? If you haven’t tried these ideas in your yard, now’s the time:

@livandjakesmama – Grow different crops than your neighbors and swap veggies with each other. Double the variety!

@bokhyun – Instead of using pesticides, layer on compost and bring in natural insect predators!

@modernisticmom – To control insects, take a cup of the hottest peppers & mix in blender with two cups of water. Spray onto plants!

Each of these winners will receive a $100 Walmart gift card and a chance to be featured on Mother Nature Network. In addition, our friends at Project 7 have pitched in a 3 month supply of their own line of gum – plus, they’re planting 10 trees in each winner’s name.

If you’re looking for a chance to share your ideas and win prizes, we have another contest coming up this Wednesday. Follow @WalmartGreen for updates and details.

Buy some Garlic Juice and pour it into a dedicated garden sprayer. One bottle per gallon should do the trick, it’s great for tomato worms, and leaf eating pincher bug thingys.. BTW, it’s nice to pick some harvest and spray it down with garlic juice and eat it in the garden..Use common sense and don’t mix sprayers ok.. Geese..
