Drop in to our new stores in Wichita, Kan., and you can be part of our experiment. In October, we opened two Neighborhood Markets that were identical – except that one is lighted almost entirely by LED.
Growing change in cotton
Farm workers from the Better Cotton project in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, India, where the sowing and picking of cotton is primarily done by women. Walmart is working with Better Cotton, placing special emphasis on women’s development.
For millions of people in some of the world’s poorest countries, cotton is an important way of making a living.
From reuse to rescue
It all started with one store and a manager with a big heart. He gathered meat and poultry that went unsold at Walmart and began giving it to a nearby animal park to feed rescued animals.
Today, it is now a full-fledged program that has expanded to 325 Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs, serving 128 animal sanctuaries and rescue centers in the U.S.
