Partnering for packaging success

Set big sustainability goals, then work at them daily
Walmart’s company-wide goal is to create zero waste. Corrugated cardboard is bundled into bales and sent to paper mills to be recycled into new paper products.Last year, Walmart U.S. kept nearly 81 percent of waste out of the landfill.

Just how far along is Walmart on its sustainability journey?
Today, we release our 2012 Global Responsibility Report, Walmart’s annual update on global sustainability and social responsibility.
The report documents our progress on everything from energy, waste and water to disaster relief, diversity and giving. It also covers two initiatives we launched in 2011: healthier, affordable food and women’s global economic empowerment. Continue reading

From reuse to rescue
It all started with one store and a manager with a big heart. He gathered meat and poultry that went unsold at Walmart and began giving it to a nearby animal park to feed rescued animals.
Today, it is now a full-fledged program that has expanded to 325 Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs, serving 128 animal sanctuaries and rescue centers in the U.S. Continue reading

Making sustainability affordable in Brazil
